Information of the 12th Western China International Fair (WCIF)
The Western China International Fair (hereinafter referred to as the WCIF), which is co-hosted by 15 national ministries/commissions, 12 provinces (autonomous regions and one municipality) in the western China and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, is held in Chengdu (Sichuan province) every year. It is based on the western region to seek for nationwide and worldwide development. It serves as an important platform in the western region for summit diplomacy, a platform for investment promotion and trade cooperation, a major carrier for the Chinese government to put forward the West-to-West Cooperation, East-to-West Cooperation and Domestic-Overseas Cooperation, as well as the biggest portal and most significant platform for the opening-up of the western China.
In 2000, the first WCIF was held to keep in pace with the implementation of the Western China Development strategy of the Chinese government. Originated from the Western China Development, the WCIF seeks for a development based on the Western China Development strategy and provides support for the Western China Development. Now, it has become an internationally attractive and nationally supported fair featuring joint efforts, shared resources and mutual benefits, and also one of the largest, most influential and well-organized fairs held in China.
The 11th WCIF covered an exhibition area of 160,000 square meters. A total of 3,153 companies from 44 countries and regions, 31 provinces (autonomous regions and one municipality) and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps attended the fair; more than 700,000 visitors visited the main venue; 23,500 suppliers and 18,200 professional purchasers attended the activities at this WCIF; the trade volume reached 224.18 billion yuan (USD 33 billion), ranking only second to that at the China Import and Export Fair (the Canton Fair).
The 12th WCIF will include the 4th Western China International Cooperation Forum, the Conference on Investing in Western China cum Ceremony for Signing Economic Cooperation Contracts, the 6th Sino-Russia Business Forum, the 2011 Western China Sourcing Fair, the 6th China-EU Investment & Trade Cooperation Fair, the 2nd West China Financial Forum and other activities for promoting trade cooperation and investment.
The main venue of the 12th WCIF will cover an exhibition area of 120,000 square meters. The exhibition halls and outdoor exhibitions, including the Western Cooperation Hall, International Cooperation Hall, High and New Technology Hall, International Electronic Information Hall, International Equipment Manufacturing Hall and Agriculture Industry Hall will be set up. In addition, branch exhibitions covering about an area of 60,000 square meters will be held.
The 12th WCIF will be held from October 18 to 22, 2011 in Chengdu, Sichuan.
International Cooperation Hall
The economy of western China has developed rapidly since the implementation of the western development strategy in China. The Western China International Fair, as the biggest window and most important platform for the opening-up of western China, has made great contribution to promoting the cooperation among western China provinces, between the eastern, central and western regions of China and between domestic and overseas enterprises, and realizing mutual benefits and win-win cooperation.
The International Cooperation Hall, as one of the important halls of the WCIF, is an important carrier to show the internationalization of the fair and realize the cooperation between domestic and overseas enterprises.
A total of 44 countries and regions attended the 11th WCIF at the 31,200m2 International Cooperation Hall consisting of exhibition sectors for South Asia countries, ASEAN countries, multinational corporations, overseas Chinese-funded enterprises, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan exhibitors, Korean and Japanese enterprises. A total of 1,029 companies including Intel, Hitachi, Toshiba, Honda, Toyota Tsusho, Samsung, LG, Foxconn, Wal-marts, Carrefour, Diageo, CJ and Ito Yokado participated in the fair.
The International Cooperation Hall of the 12th WCIF will set up the exhibition sectors for multinational corporations, the US, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Australia, South Asia countries, the EU members, ASEAN countries and international and overseas Chinese businesses to showcase their overall images and specialty products, fully display WCIF’s role as a platform for investment promotion and trade cooperation, and deeply boost the opening-up and cooperation of western China regions.
