Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation (BSEC)

1. Brief Description:

Within The Provision Of Bangladesh Industrial Enterprises (Nationalization, 2nd amendment) Ordinance, 1976, Bangladesh Steel & Engineering Corporation (BSEC) was formed By amalgamating the then Bangladesh Steel Mills Corporation and Bangladesh Engineering & Shipbuilding Corporation. BSEC Commenced functioning with 62(Sixty Two) enterprises and subsequently Bangladesh Blade Factory Ltd. was established. Presently, Corporation has 9(Nine) operational enterprises of which 49% shares of 3(Three) enterprises Viz, Atlas Bangladesh Ltd., National Tubes Ltd. & Eastern Cables Ltd. have been issued to the general public and to the employees of the respective enterprises.

Product range of BSEC enterprises mainly covers electrical products & equipments such as electric cables, Transformers, Tube Light, Super Enamelled Copper Wire. Other products are Bus, Truck, Jeep, Motor Cycle,Mishuk(Tri-wheeler), MS/GI/API Pipes, Razor Blade etc. Besides, repairing of inland & ocean-going vessels, fabrication of portable steel bridge and foot-over steel bridge are also done in Chittagong Dry Dock ltd. The products of BSEC are widely used in and contribute significantly to the overall development of the country especially for infrastructural development, a vital prerequisite for economic development.
